Founded

Cherry Tree Pet Crematorium was founded in early 2000 when we, David & Sheila Funnell decided to sell our home. We went on to buy a 12 acre plot of land which would mark the beginning of a tiresome battle of blood, sweat and tears to create the Cherry Tree that we know today.

What makes Cherry Tree such a special place to live and work in, is that 20 years ago it was just a field. First, we started the long process of gaining planning permission for our crematorium. This was a stressful period for us and our family, but having already sold our home, we had to battle on.

Planning Permission Granted

This was a huge day for us as a family and a massive step into making Cherry Tree what it is today.

JULY 2006

A Home is Built

A long-standing dream of ours was to build our own house. Not only that, but living at Cherry Tree meant that we could give our complete dedication and care to our wonderful clients at any hour of the day.

A Welcome Reception

Big history was made at Cherry Tree Pet Crematorium when we upgraded from our initial converted stable reception room. It was a much needed upgrade, not just for our clients but also for the office, which went from a leaky back room to a warm and inviting office and home to our many dogs.

Joseph Joins the Family Business

Joseph, our son, has always been a part of Cherry Tree; moving here at just 3 years old and being the face of our brochure by the age of 4. He has always had a huge love for the animal kingdom, from befriending wild ducks, who joined him in the paddling pool, to making his dad carry out individual cremations to wild birds.
Joseph joined the business officially in 2015 and has made some lovely improvements and special touches to the overall experience people have when they visit Cherry Tree.

An Extra Personal Touch

Joseph has always wanted to further personalise the Cherry Tree Pet Crematorium experience that we offer to all of our clients. Near the end of 2020 he introduced our laser engraving machine. This has transformed a lot of what we do on a day to day basis and has added some really special touches that our clients love.

End of life Facility

We introduced our new end of life facility. This new side to Cherry Tree specialises in peaceful euthanasia either at home, or in our new tranquil surgery. We believe the way euthanasia is carried out and perceived is long overdue a rethink. That’s why our new surgery, run by Nicola, is warm, welcoming and a home from home for our clients.
